The founder, William Fuchs, after graduating from SUNY Maritime College and beginning a career as a commercial marine engineer, built Fuchs Marine Systems around a simple idea: private vessels deserve the same level of preventative maintenance and engineering discipline used in the commercial maritime industry.

After graduating from SUNY Maritime College and beginning a career as a commercial marine engineer aboard harbor tractor tugs and ATBs (Articulated Tug and Barge), the importance of preventative maintenance, documentation, and equipment readiness became clear.

Commercial vessels cannot afford to simply wait for equipment to fail. Systems are inspected. Maintenance is scheduled. Equipment condition is monitored. Parts are tracked. Deficiencies are documented.

Why FMS Exists

Fill the gap between ownership and maintenance.

Private vessel owners often have access to excellent mechanics and technicians. What is often missing is the management system surrounding the maintenance.
